| Optiver required a different challenge. Their team of expert, high-performing professionals required a suitably engaging event that would be new — not the normal team-building routine. So we designed and ran a team event based in TV’s enormously successful ‘The Amazing Race’. |
| Starting at Palazzo Versace in Queensland’s Gold Coast, teams left early in the morning by taxi to a hire-car location. Here they collected clues for the next leg of the race. This formed the pattern — teams racing to the next location and then being given the details of the task. On completion of the task they were given the next destination — and the mode of transport. Transport included taxi, hire-car, mountain bike, train, on-foot, canoe, ferry and (as a final treat) helicopter. Challenges included snorkelling, rafting, navigation, mental puzzles, abseiling and swimming. The race finished with teams sprinting from the helipad near the hotel and being greeted by the concierge with the classic line, ‘Welcome to the Palazzo Versace, you are team number…’ |
